  1. When you apply to us to open an account, we, Trusted Quid (see below for full company details), will check the following records about you and others, such as your partner(s) (see section 2 of the full privacy notice for more information):

    • a) Our own;

    • those at credit reference agencies (CRAs). When CRAs receive a search from us they will place a search footprint on your credit file that may be seen by other lenders. They supply to us both public (including the electoral register) and shared credit and fraud prevention information; and

    • those at fraud prevention agencies (FPAs). We will make checks such as; assessing this application for credit and verifying identities to prevent and detect crime and money laundering. We may also make periodic searches at CRAs and FPAs to manage your account with us.

  2. The primary purpose for which we use the information we collect about you is to consider and make a decision on your loan application. Your data may also be used for other purposes such as processing payments and updating your credit history. We only use your data if we are permitted to do so under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other laws relating to the protection of personal data, such as when using the data is necessary for a entering into or performing a contract between us, when we have a legitimate interest which is not outweighed by your rights and freedoms and which requires that we process your data, when you give us specific permission or, in limited circumstances, when we are required to use your data to comply with legal obligations.   3. If you have borrowed from us and do not make payments that you owe us, we will trace your whereabouts and seek to recover debts from you.

  4. Information on applications will be sent to CRAs and will be recorded by them. Where you borrow from us, we will give details of your account(s) and how you manage it/them to CRAs. If you borrow and do not repay in full and on time, CRAs will record the outstanding debt. This information may be supplied to other organisations by CRAs and FPAs to perform similar checks and to trace your whereabouts and recover debts that you owe.   5. Information held about you by the CRAs may already be linked to records relating to your partner(s). Except in the case of joint accounts or jointly held financial products, we will not consider information about other persons, such as your partner, to assess your creditworthiness.

  6. If you give us false or inaccurate information and we suspect or identify fraud we will record this and may also pass this information to National Crime Agency and other organisations involved in crime and fraud prevention.

  7. The information provided to us by CRAs may be obtained by them from other countries e.g. from foreign CRAs or FRAs, information on sanctions lists and registers of politically exposed persons.

  8. We will transfer your information outside the European Economic Area. More detailed information can be found in our full privacy notice.

  9. We keep your records on file for up to 6 years after a loan granted to you has either been settled in full or declared as a defaulted debt. Different retention periods apply to different types of information and these are described in the full privacy notice.

  10. A decision on your application may be made by means of automated decision-making. Information about how this works and how it can impact you can be found in the full privacy notice. You may contest decisions taken in this way and your appeal will be handled by a member of our team, as described in the full privacy notice.
